यूँ सजा चाँद कि छलका तेरे अंदाज़ का रंग यूँ फ़ज़ा महकी कि बदला मेरे हमराज़ का रंग (Such was the light of the moon, the color of your flair sparkled The fragrance of the bloom spread like my beloved’s grace) चंद्र असा सजला कि तुझ्या  विभ्रमांचे रंग (नखरे ) उजळून निघाले  वातावरण असे दरवळले   कि माझ्या प्रियेचा रंग (mood ) बदलला ! साया-ए-चश्म में हैराँ रुख़-ए-रौशन का जमाल सुर्ख़ी-ए-लब पे परेशाँ तेरी आवाज़ का रंग (Under the eyes, the beauty of the blushing cheeks In the redness of your lips quivered the color of your voice) आरशातील डोळ्यांच्या प्रतिबिंबात उमटलेला तुझा विस्मयचकित चेहरा  ओठांच्या लालीतून  बाहेर पडताना परेशान  होणारा तुझा आवाज ! बेपिये हों कि अगर लुत्फ़ करो आख़िर-ए-शब शीशा-ए-मय में ढले सुबह के आग़ाज़ का रंग (I have not drunk, but if it pleases you, when the night ends, Let the color of the dawn blend the goblet of wine) न पिता रात्रीच्या शेवटच्या प्रहरांचा आस्वाद घेताना  मद्याच्या प्याल्यात उतरेल पहाटेच्या सुरवातीचा रंग ! चंगो-नय रंग पे थे अपने लहू के दम से दिल ने लय बदली तो मद्धम हुआ हर साज़ का रंग (We were in rapture with the songs in our hearts When the heart changed its beat, all the instruments got subdued) ढोल आणि बासरी रंगात असताना  हृदयाने गती बदलली आणि दोन्हीचा आवाज मध्यम झाला ! इक सुख़न और कि फिर रंग-ए-तकल्लुम तेरा हर्फ़-ए-सादा को इनायत करे एजाज़ का रंग (Might I have an honor to sit with you while the color of our conversation Blesses upon  the syllables of candor the color of a miracle ? ) एखादा शब्द  आणि तुझी बोलण्याची ती अदा  एखाद्या सहज शब्दाने सुखद चमत्कार घडवून आणते! - फ़ैज़अहमदफ़ैज़
